About the Institute
Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI) is a peripheral unit under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences functioning at Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram undertaking, co-coordinating, aiding and promoting research in Ayurvedic Science with special emphasis on Life Style related disorders. The Institute is functioning in its own building in 1.545 acres of land. The Clinical Research Section of the Institute is carrying out research work with special emphasis on Life Style Related health care with the support of a sophisticated Biochemistry & Pathology laboratory. The well established Library in the Institute has a rare collection of nearly 1600 books on various subjects for reference including Council’s publications which is also available for sale at a discount rate.
The Institute has OPD's for general cases on all working days and special geriatric clinics on all Tuesdays and Fridays. Special OPD's on life style related disorders are conducted for Gynaec disorders, Diabetes mellitus, and Obesity on all Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays respectively.
Intramural Clinical trial on Uterine Fibroids is being carried out in the Institute, where trial patients are screened from OPD and included for the Trial. Medicines are provided free of cost and all lab investigations are done free for these trial patients.
Two mobile programmes viz. Swasthya Raksha Programme linked with Swachh Bharat Mission and Ayurveda Mobile Health Care Programme under Scheduled Caste Sub-plan is also being carried out in the Institute. Nine nearby colonies (Five colonies for SRP & four colonies for AMHCP) have been identified and adopted by the Institute and is providing all kinds of medical aid to them as part of the programme.
The 30 bedded IP ward of the Institute is fully furnished and is waiting sanction for starting IPD.
Lab investigations are carried out for the OPD patients at a very nominal rate, discount rate for geriatric patients and free of cost for trial patients and patients belonging to BPL (Below Poverty Line) categories.
The construction for the second floor of the building along with a separate kitchen block has been started by the CPWD.
